My 59 Vette of 51 years
Bought my 59 as a dumb kid ,and of course lost the original engine years ago. I have all the matching castings, etc. but can any one tell me what ID all the engine bolts are supposed to have? Also, I never had the ignition shielding originally-- where do the little "L" brackets attach? Is it to the 1/4 threaded holes close to the block deck where the heat shields attach? Maybe I need a picture. This is a 2x4 bbl 283. thanks. I'm new- this is my first post

Welcome to the Forum.
Paragon Corvette use to do a wall chart, that showed most of the various bolts used on Corvettes, and their head marks. They may still have them available. The NCRS Judging Manual lists most of the correct bolts.
If you're referring to the brackets that support the spark plug covers, they mount to the end exhaust manifold bolts.
You might want to jump up to the C1/C2 General Section for help in the future. Though the Factory Correct Restoration Section seems like the logical choice, the C1/C2 General Section gets a lot more traffic and you'll get many more responses.

If I remember correctly, you still use the washer on the end bolts, along with the shielding brackets and the french locks. The end bolts are longer than the inner ones, and without the washers, the bolts can bottom out before sealing the manifold.
