It is still winter Johnfather as you know and even if we get 5 to 6 inches total it will all be melted in time for weekend and rain is predicted on Friday to wash away the salt and right now for next weekend 45 and 48 degrees and sunny is predicted.

Yes its winter's last gasp but we are just about done with it and its incredible how easy we had it 2 years in a row now.

So when you going to get that C6 ZR1 buddy so you can keep your passion for go fast vettes and American Muscle Cars still going for the upcoming season? Man those cars a such an INCREDIBLE bang for the $ right now (can be had for in the high $50K range now) and would put nothing but a big smile on your face! Or, if you think that is too much $ nothing like a C6 Z06 for $35K to scratch that itch again.

Do these towns have any salt left? Thought they used it all up when we got that dusting of snow on the grass recently

I drove route 64 today and it was like running the bonneville salt flats.

Not sure the coming rain will be sufficient to clean the roads.

They laid it down THICK, but, if their is enough rain on Friday at least my secondary modern hot rod will be out, my 2016 Mustang GT, unless the roads are to wet b/c all my fun cars are nice and clean right now just waiting for Spring to arrive which will be this weekend with 52 degrees and sunny on Sunday!

Did a lot of highway driving today in my winter beater on side streets and Highways going from Elmhurst to Evanston to visit my dad, and was PLEASANTLY surprised that I really did not see any salt and the rain we got and melting snow and moist pavement seems to have done a much better job than I would have thought.

SO, the beater has been swapped out for 5.0 Mustang GT for the weekend as the forecast looks incredible and by Calendar Spring (Monday March 20th) I expect the Viper Venom Snake should be out on a full time basis and April 1st (out comes the bad boy 565 c.i. 1967 Camaro, to celebrate the start of the new car season and the 50 Year Anniversary (1967 to 2017 of Camaro) of an American Icon!

Heck, if the roads were not so moist from today's rain and the last of the melting snow this weekend the Viper would be out again instead of the Mustang, but the Viper's too clean right now to hit some melting puddles of water this weekend and I'm too lazy to wash her again!

Agree on both points, roads are not too bad and I too try to keep the car clean so I don't have to bother washing it! A little salt dust won't prevent me from driving however.

Salt is mostly gone in Metro Detroit as well. Looks like the Corvette will get driven to work tomorrow. Certainly on Friday.

Worm count would be much higher but the rain has washed most (red/earth) away.

END of REPORT

Someone needs to start an "only 30 more days till cabin fever is over" thread!

Rain supposed to become snow overnight. News is saying it will only cover the grass so I hope the salt crews are listening.
