Hello Corvette Owners -
My name is Mike, and I am looking to purchase a 63 (red) split window, maybe this week.
Before I got married, (famous last words) about 40 years ago, I had a 63 roadster, and a few years later, a 68 Big Block roadster. Since my retirement, and no kids in the house anymore, I've been looking for a 1963 Red Corvette Split Window. There are several east of the Mississippi, but haven't seen any west of the Mississippi.
I found a 1963 split window in Washington, at catsexotics. It shows about 50 pictures of the car and 327/250hp motor. I am flying up to Seattle, to see the car on tuesday. The dealer is asking $79,888 for the car. I goggled around, and found a red 63 split window that sold at a Mecum auction, last year, with the 327/250hp for $57K. There are also a couple others, that seem to be clean, on Ebay - one in Ohio, and the other in Penn., for alot less money. Hagerty's shows the 63 split window, 327/250hp to be the lowest priced of 1963. What do you think a reasonable offer would be? I (my wife) won't let me spend that much, but I don't know how flexible these dealers are. After contacting cats exotics (www.catsexotics) there isn't any documentation on the car, just pictures. Also, I don't know if I would be disappointed in the 327/250hp motor. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome from Nor-Cal. I'm sure you've checked if it's a #matching car? If not there might be room to haggle. Personally, I've never really cared about matching #'s in a driver. I've owned 2 63 coupes in the past. Both I personally did frame ups on. Both were 340HP 4-speed cars. Very fun, but I really enjoy my 2006 C6 6-speed way more. Faster, more comfortable, reliable...It's like comparing apples to oranges-Depends on what you want -a cool weekend car that will turn heads and you can take to car shows (the 63)....or a world class everyday driver (the C6) Keep us posted and good luck in your search!
