Not sure I get where the big price difference is located. My 08 LT1A6 was 8k more than the turbo'd Solstice/Sky. That 2-fer is more like a comparision to a fully loaded vert or a Z06. Don't mean to burst your bubble, get back to us when you have had the Solly for 5-6 months....you are still at that infatuation stage. I know, when I got rid of my 99 C5 I tried a mini-cooper s for 10 months-tried to say it was better in traffic than the vette, didn't ground the nose etc. It was a fun go-cart, but it is great to be back in the vette. You never know what you had until you loose it.

Default Solstice

Glad you like it. I sat in one at my dealership but it was not a good fit as my legs are too long. The ONLY thing that counts is that YOU like it!

Hey congrats on the Solstice GXP - it looks like a very nice car.

I respect your review. My only quibble though is when you say that the 4-cyl Solstice is more linear... The LS2/LS3 NA V8s provide a perfectly linear delivery. Delivery depends on user input. If you are less than smooth with the throttle the LS2/LS3's wall-of-torque will hit you and you may misinterpret that as non-linear behavior - NOT.

P.S. - you comment on handling too. Again I think it is user perspective (watch your speedo - you may think you are going faster than you really are). I come from a 996 Carrera 4 and can assure you the C6 carves canyons better than the Porsche.

I suppose the Solstice would appeal to the over 70 crowd. Anyone under that age would opt for the Sky which is much better looking.
Solstice handles better, PPPLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE. No need to justify your purchase on this forum but it may have some relevance on the Miata forum.

There is no universe where the Solstice could catch a Vette on the track, driver being equal, etc. You may like the way it feels more, but if you and a Vette were in the same class, you'd be in deep trouble.
Sure. Been to plenty of autox's years ago, but I prefer road courses so I've generally been running those for the last decade as I prefer them over whipping around orange cones in a parking lot. A-stock is one class lower than Super Stock and the only thing keeping the Solstice GXP out of super stock is a few horses! The Solstice GXP shares its A-stock class with other cars like the NSX, Porsche 911, Boxter, Cayman, Shelby Cobra, and a number of them can easily outmaneuver/outhandle the Vette on courses that don't have long straightaways where the Vette can exploit the extra horses.

I dont know man...

The only way I could justify getting rid of the vette would be to move up in the food chain....

like....lamborghini, ferrari...you know

To sell you vette for a solstice to me is....

like instead of eating lobster every night for dinner...your switching to burger king...

the solstice looks cheaper, is cheaper, has less HP
It's almost like you lowered your standards.
Oh well, as long as it makes you happy.

I will forever have a 2007 silver vette....I am in the process of buying an 2007 silver viper.

until the day comes where I can afford a lamborghini or ferrari.

The vette and viper will always be pals in my garage

no saturn sky's, solstices, hundais or any of that other garbage...although I will admit the sky is pretty cute...my 15 year old niece would look good driving in one...or should I buy her a solstice. The solstice and sky remind me of teeny bopper cars. Dont get me wrong, if i was dirt poor and only could afford a sky i would drive one if I had to..but not by choice...guess it depends on your situation....but what it all boils down to is....you have to drive what makes you happy....screw what everyone else thinks.

Since I wanted a convertible, I was comparing the base convertible against the base convertible.

Cheapest MSRP for C6 Convertible: 55,425
Cheapest Solstice GXP MSRP: 28,465

That's a difference of $26,960

To take the time to write all that, tells me your trying to convince yourself you made the right choice...I almost got a GT 500/Shelby and I was looking at Boxter S, thank GOD I have ended up with my CRM/Vert-Z51, NPP, this ride, ROCKS!

Wow, can't believe all the slamming guys. I think he deserves some slack, it isn't like he is jumping into a mustang...

I think you got yourself a nice car! I have never driven one, but I think they look great. But to be honest, only way I would give up my vette for a solstice is if it was a money issue.

Anyways, good review. Enjoy the ride!

I drove the Corvette, and the Solstice, at the GM Drive track in Las Vegas. It wasn't the turbo model, they were not out yet. I was impressed, the Soltice on such a short track, got better times than the Vette. I'm still keeping the Vette, but may trade the Focus in on a Solstice turbo............

Power is more linear and feels more "there when you need it"

Let me get this straight....a turbocharged 4 banger has a more "there when you need it" and more linear power curve than a 6 liter 400hp, 400ft.lbs V8? Please explain how this is possible.

I must say, at least I can shove my match target M16 in the back seat along with my 87 year old mother in law. Plus, it's a V8 & easily modified...at that.

I know the difference between part throttle and WOT. From 2000 RPM up (which is where you are going to be 100% of the time after the initial off-the-line time), the Solstice GXP delivers torque as flat or flatter than the LS2:

Had an 05 Mustang GT. Only kept it about 8 months. Everything on that car was "square" including the seats. Most uncomfortable car I've ever driven and it handled like a truck!
