Default Daily Driver woes! Lexus ES 300

Allllright fellas I posted this on Club Lexus and Lexus owners club and didn't really get any help... I have been on many forums with other cars but the Corvette Forum has by far been the most helpful so I figured I would give this a try....

here's the rundown

1999 ES 300 265k on the clock

Got a check engine / trac off light about a month ago
first things I did:

-changed spark plugs
-replaced fuel filter
-changed air filter
-ran a bottle of sea foam thru a full tank of premium fuel

still not fixed...

-scanned the car pulled a P1130 code

-replaced ALL THREE 02 sensors....

car ran fine for about 2 weeks (still had check engine light)
now the car runs like total a$$! VERY rough idle and periodically bucks and shudders while driving

I was thinking it may be a vacuum leak or something but if I disconnect the battery for about 15 min or so then drive the car (check engine light goes off) it runs perfect for about 15 min then the light comes back on and it goes right back to running like dung....

ANY help is GREATLY appreciated! I'm at my whits end with this car!

Default ES300 Drivability - need more info?

A little more info might help get you going in the right direction. First, was the car running poorly before you replaced the O2 sensors, or did you do that just because of the check engine light being on? Second, have you had the car scanned since you replaced them, or have you just been clearing the code (whatever it is) by disconnecting the battery? I think there's a strong possibility that there is a new problem (or maybe an old problem that was masked by the O2 sensor being bad), but without knowing what the current codes are, you're just shooting in the dark...

Scan it again. It might be a vacum leak now.

Doubt that it's cat or vacuum leak because it runs fine for 15 min after he clears it - I think it's more likely to be a temp sensor or the MAF sensor.

Sometimes a vacuum leak rears its ugly head only after the engine bay heats up. The hose expands and the leak becomes much larger. While the engine is running (cold) flex all the vacuum lines you can find to see if you can make the engine sputter.

With that many miles fuel pump could be weak. Factory manuel says P1130 could be running out of fuel. So I would check,Fuel pump,Injectors and PCM

Could be soo many things. If you do NOT disconnect the battery, but let the car sit until it's stone cold then start it, does it run bad immidiately or does it run good, then go bad when it warms up a bit? Might be an open loop/ closed loop thing instead of a computer reset thing. (Although I don't even know if that particular car used that system:o) If it truely only runs good right after the battery is disconnected, what you need to know is what systems does IGNORE when it's been reset. Your problem will likely be in one of those systems. Solving problems like this usually comes down to rulling various things out this way until you find the problem.

Well I had her scanned again today and it pulled miss-fire codes for cylinder's 2 4 & 6

Here are the codes
P1354 Manuf. control ign miss-fire
P0300 Multiple cylinder miss-fired
P0302 Miss-fire #2 Cylinder
P0304 Miss-fire #4 Cylinder
P0306 Miss-fire #6 Cylinder

After researching the codes it looks like its the bank to OCV (Oil Control Valve) I'm gonna dig in tomorrow and hopefully will have this beast back in commission tomorrow...

Its funny that I got more responses on the corvetteforum about a lexus than I did on the LEXUS forum. HAHA I love this place!

Thanks for all your responses... I will let you guys know how it goes

misfire. Have you replaced the spark plug wires? I run 87 octane in my car (97ES) but I only have 209k miles. I get mostly 24-26 mpg city.

What type/brand of spark plug did you install, the engine can be real picky if you put in an odd brand and it does call for platnuims, and bosch ones don't cut it.

DTC P1354 VVT System Malfunction (Bank 2)

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
VVT system controls the intake valve timing to proper timing in response to driving condition. ECM controls OCV (Oil Control Valve) to make the intake valve timing properly, and, oil pressure controlled with OCV is supplied to the VVT controller, and then, VVT controller changes relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft.

# If DTC P1354 is displayed, check right bank VVT system circuit.
# Read freeze frame data using LEXUS hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool. Because freeze frame records the engine conditions when the malfunction is detected, when troubleshooting it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
