bmw 335i, 335is - comments
looking to replace the family sedan - well, the family coupe. test drove a bmw 335is yesterday. inline 6, twin turbo, 320 hp, 340#torque (i'm thinking), all the bells and whistles. a little pricey, but overall, a nice car. should look good parked next to the vette. seems like it had decent performance for that type of car. i would like an M3, but they have lousy gas mileage, and with the gas guzzler tax, this 335is might be a better fit. anyone owning the 335i out there? any comments on the car, car line, ???

Safety Car
I have driven the 335 numerous times in both sedan and coupes, its a great car from a driver standpoint and delivers very good performance for a 6 cylinder. The turbos spool up very quickly giving diesel like torque. I would love to own one with the exception that the backseat is pretty much useless and will not accomodate adults comfortably. I need a car that has room to haul my clients around it.
If you do not need the use of the back seat all of the time I would go for it. You may also want to take a look at the Audi S4, more backseat room and similar performance from a supercharged 6 cyl.

I have a 2007 335i coupe, its hands down the best DD ive ever had. The biggest problem with the 35s is the high pressure fuel pumps. But BMW has extended the warranty on them past 100k miles IIRC.

I had a E92 M3 or order when a 335i coupe came into the dealer. After driving both the 335i was the all around better car and offered 10mpg better to boot. If I ever want more power $500 will give more power than the M3 and it's also a couple hundred pounds lighter. Win/Win for me.
The "is" is a nice option but pricey IMO for a body kit and 20hp.

After driving a bunch of cars, the 335 is at the top of my list. I need: fun to drive, good gas milage and 4 doors. We drove: G37S, A4, IS350, CTS 3.6DI, VW CC, C350, BMW 535 and many more. The 335 is just a blast to drive. The 535 was a close 2nd with lots more space but not as much fun to drive.

I have a few buddies with 335s and they all love them. Be careful with the mods and tune though, they tell me BMW has become very smart about determining if the PCM has ever been tampered with. In other words, they can tell if you've had a tune in the car even if you put it back to stock before taking it to BMW. I'd get on the BMW forums and do a lot of research before going down that road. Despite that in the segment you're looking at it's probably the "right" car.
Personally I find the 335d pretty interesting.

Buddy just bought a 07 a couple weeks ago. I drove it and was impressed. First BMW I ever drove or even rode in. I did think the price was high for a DD but I don't make the money he does so..I was impressed with how good it ran.

I have one, been using it as my daily driver. Get good gas mileage - about 23mpg mixed. Lots and lots of usable, low end torque. One of the best stock stereos I've ever heard. Very quiet and composed on the highway. Make sure you get the sport package, it gives you amazing seats and the better looking 18" wheels.

Checked out an '11 135i vert today. Didn't drive it (dealer was closed) seemed like a decent little car. MSRP of $46k, seemed a little .May go back and take 'er for a spin.

Pre-owned is fine, especially CPO. Actually all things being equal I'd take a GrandSport vert. Just not sure what I wanna do and the higher up in price I go as with a 3series vert the less I justify it and like the GS better. They're all nice, I'll take one of each.
