What is your wife looking for in terms of the car other than the fact she wants a vert. Is she looking for handling, comfort, speed.... can it be a 2 seater or does it need 4 seats etc..... What is your budget and are we talking new or used.

Wife just got rid of a 2009 VW EOS. Fun little car but it is little. If its just the two of you, no big deal. Also, not very good in the snow (not sure where you live). Turbo lag is horrible on it too.

Transportation from "A to B", but looking good doing it!
Perfers 4 seater, but will go with 2 seats if looks overides 4 seat accomodations.
Budget calls for 35 to 45K.
Perfer new, but low mile, one owner not out of the equation.
Got to be BRIGHT red..............

Whew!! Thanks. I think the MX-5 is getting re-skinned for next year too.
To sum up:
Reliability= Foreign
Fun to drive= Foreign
Gas guzzlers and fast, unreliable= American made.........
Unfortunately, sounds about right............

If that is the case, I would seriously consider looking at the 2011 Camaro SS convertible. If you read the reviews, you will see that the convertible is significantly improved over the coupe because of the improved handling characteristics. When released here soon, they can be had in the price range you want, and will come in bright red

The Camaro and Mustang are not really unreliable (in fact, they've been fairly reliable of late) but I equate "fun to drive" with low vehicle weight, especially if we're talking tight, winding roads and few wide-open, Montana-style roads.

In that price range you could look at a slightly used 3 series convertible. Something like this. All the initial depreciation has been gone and it looks like they are a good buy. A nice retractable hardtop too.
