Went to opening day at PIR yesterday and I posted this in the C7Z06 section https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1589133120

Ouch! Have to ask, you didn't do any burn-outs prior to staging did you? Street tires don't like burnouts, dedicated drag tires need them.

Then I'd say major track issues....probably take a few sunny weeks of cars laying down rubber before it improves.....Don't know about drag strips as much but on road courses rubber down compared to a green track can mean 4 seconds or more for a GT2 Class car.

I don't think it's the track as much as experience.
You were very cautious on your first pass and not as concerned with making the fastest pass. The next two passes you were putting your foot into it beyond the grip of the tires.
I know the lanes can make a little difference, but the asphalt was the same for both lanes and your opponents seemed to be hooking up well enough. The second video might have been a 4x4, but that first old pickup was RWD and was looking pretty good at the start.
I have never drag raced, but I have done a lot of virtual sim (game) driving in the past and I do much better when relaxed than when the pressure is on sometimes. I tend to get frustrated and add too much throttle coming out of corners and lose control and time.
And once the tires are overheated due to too much wheel spin you were probably losing even more grip.

Maybe, but know Smily his Hotrod is a 700+ HP NA LS7 '85 Monte Carlo, he's done tons of passes with it though I suspect most have been with drag radials....
