Default Iconic Images of Seattle and the NW

Let me apologize for once again for my hydroplanes and the occasional comments about growing up in Seattle, but I received this the other day and thought it was too good not to share.

It's 1958 and Seafair. Among the thousands of spectators at lakeside for the hydro races was a young kid, who lived nearby and loved the hydroplanes. He went on to do other things. Just thought you might find this interesting.

Great shots John. Thanks. I'd seen several of them before, but not all. the history of Seattle is an interesting story. Mostly not suitable for children, but interesting nevertheless.

Somebody said once that "Seattle is Just Omaha With a Mountain" so maybe you haven't missed much, Heaven knows, with the traffic up here, you'll have plenty of time to look at the sights while stuck in line.

He started in Spokane with the Eagle Electric I believe. Not the same a couple years ago. The 60's were always great time in CDA Lake with the Diamond Cup

Oh, yes, the Pay n' Pak boats. I was working patrol boat on the course when Micky Remund and the Miss Bud were going at it tooth and nail. The Turbine boat in your photo was turned into a skyrocket by John Walters and I never did figure out what happened to the hull. I can tell you that I've been staring at the "Winged Wonder" every time I go to the Museum to work on the boats. Under the direction of Gold Cup winner, Mike Hanson, are putting her back together.

With all the recent activity and intrst in the old Unlimiteds, we're hopeful we'll have 8 or 9 at Lake Chelan this fall, Sadly the long rumored races at Cd'A have again been put off for another year.

Thanks for the great photos. I had not seen these before.
