What filler over Epoxy Resin?
Which filler is recommended? I have filled the body seams with epoxy resin on my '79.. I assume that some type of filler is needed over the mat/resin - before it gets primed.
thanks

I'm going through this now. I'm not an expert, but here's where I'm at, the products I used and the good advice I got. My plan is to finish filling (w/Rage Extreme), sanding, spray with PPG Epoxy Primer, sand, sand some more, re-spray, sand again and again & final primer.

Melting Slicks
Check out SPI Epoxy primer, about half the cost of PPG. Both primers will work fine. SPI will ship to you.

Hey Porch,
Can I use SPI epoxy then overcoat with Omni? Reason being is Omni costs me zero, or should I just buy the SPI and shut up?

some colors in restoration can only be mixed in omni. the cream on the 57 restomod is omni. you can use spi epoxy or primers then omni color and spi clears. not a problem. you do not have to stick with 1 manufacture . i use spi for evrything but color.

Thank You, Sir! Now another question a little off the topic, but I've done a search and can't find the answer.
I'm doing a '64 coupe and I have dug all the old sealer out from the door jams and where the body sealed to the birdcage. What do you like to replace it with? I've been told 3M 8500, but I need to know what the Corvette master uses. I plane to shoot epoxy over the bare metal, then seal. Is this correct?
By the way, I contacted Barry and he has no supplier here, so I'll be buying some product direct. The reason is your recommendation and the fact that I e-mailed him and got an immediate response. Customer service is everything.
Thanks again for all your help.

i would think the 3m is as good as anybody elses. have not used any in a long time though. some of the guys on here are in the middle of some restorations. be good to hear what they are using. most of my work is on c1's it seems and the ones i get are borderline junk.
you will not find a nicer guy than barry and no one comes close to his service and knowledge . his products are designed with the custom/restoration shop in mind. not production. who else has clears that can be taken to 6 coats ?
