wet sand and buff 4r old paint

Melting Slicks
Paint can be sanded and buffed repeatedly until it is worn through. It would help us if we knew what paint system is on the car, and perhaps why you want to cut it now... Scratches? Fading? Swirl? You want a new upper body workout?

It can...like markids77 mentioned. BUT it also has a lot to do with if the painter applied enough clearcoat on the car ( if clearcoated at all)...to compensate for future wetsanding and buffing. Getting your clearcoat to thin is dangerous...unless you KNOW that you have enough film thickness...because getting the clearcoat to thin can cause for it to "chalk out" when exposed to the UV's of the sun. It will oxidize quicker and the surface will get dull...and when you polish that back to a shine...it will do it again and again...and get duller faster due to the lack of proper film thickness needed to protect you paint form the sun. SO just be careful ...unless you know what you can away with...in regards to heavy sanding. Using 200 grit will be a "work out" that is for sure...but it also depends on the texture in your paint now.
