Paint underside of hood
Hey guys, searched but didn't find what I was looking for.
This is on a 2001 vette.
I'm kicking around the idea of painting the underside of my hood.
What I'm thinking is I want to paint it black, close to the color of the plastic underhood bits.
So I really don't wanna do the whole body shop routine (cost), so was curious if anybody's done this with a rattle can?
What did you use to rough up the underhood before painting?
Primer? which?
paint cans? which? color black?
Thanks....

I have found SEM trim black to be a very good product. It matches factory trim pieces very well. There is no need for a primer but surface prep is obviously a necessity. They recommend cleaning with their SEM soap, sanding, washing, and using their plastic adhesion promoter prior to application.

I have used it on my windshield trim and air filter housing and it is holding up great and looks like factory.

Thanks Dt, but maybe I confused the question - I'm looking to paint the underside of the hood (body panel), not the plastic bits.....
Thanks...

CALL SEM and talk to their tech department which is VERY HELPFUL if you need to verify that this product will work. Paint does not know what it is being sprayed on....and you might just find that what 'dt86' offered as a suggestion will work perfectly.
Knowing that your paint is factory cured....this product should work out fine. Depending on your level of prep....which makes all the difference in adhesion and reducing problems in application.
