Default Engine Bay

Looking for some paint for the engine bay. Something not too flat (semi-gloss or semi-flat) that will hold up to gas and oil. SPI hot rod black with some flattening agent? or another brand??

I used a single stage urethane with a flattening agent over a couple of coats of properly thinned out epoxy primer. Some folks just use a black epoxy primer and leave it at that since it usually dries to a nice satin sheen. I prefer top coating it.
The paint I used is called U-tech single stage urethane and is made by AkzoNobel, The folks who make the Sikkens line of automotive paints.

Here's straight SPI epoxy primer... It can get pretty glossy.

I'll be painting my engine bay body color but it's currently at least in this primer stage.

I agree, a little too shiny for me.

I wonder if SPI can sell me something to knock down the shine a little.

The sheen will come down in time. It is NOT glossy. I have shot engine bays looking much like the photos and in a short time of driving and such...the color does dull out a bit. Let it get hot and get used.

But do what ever you feel you need to.
