Default Prepping Bare Flared Fenders

Flared fenders for a C5Z that are bare from the manufacturer.

My research has only muddied the waters.

One of the fenders has some adhesive from tape on it. What is best to get the surface nice and clean so I can lay on a coat of sand able primer?

These are bare fenders to the gel coat.

Thanks gents.

What we did on the gel-coated replacement panels for my '71 was a scrub with scotchbrite & lacquer thinner. Then a good scuff with 80 grit dry. The gelcoat needs to be scuffed for the primer to adhere.
