VR Power duct?
I have the VR B2 intake on my car which was already installed when I purchased it. However when I looked closer I noticed the air duct appears to be the stock one vs the VR power duct.
Does anyone have any experience if there are any gains over the stock duct to the VR one? The car is a 402 stroker with heads/cam, fast 90/90 which dynoed 509/475. So obviously the stock piece can make power, more is always better but I don't like to waste money I don't have to either.
Thanks in advance.... Jon

i don't think its going to make much difference on your car... that is not whats restrictive on the stock piece its the AIRBOX I could be wrong but I don't think your going to picke up much from replacing that on your car... the VR B2 is doing its job ramming air in there

for the amount that it cost I'd do it, as I think it'll be worth 5-10hp on your setup

I'll keep it in mind this winter when the car is hibernating. Anyone go from the intake system with the stock duct to this one and notice a change in trap speeds etc?
Thanks for the input
Lightfighter I doubt you'll be betting any races for me, my car is just a garage queen

I have a VR, but not the duct. I just bought a power duct and I'm waiting for it to get here. I didn't buy the VR power duct though. I don't really want to move my MAF closer to the TB. But supposedly there's a worthwhile difference with the duct + VR. I'll let you know what my findings are when it arrives. I'll likely be dynoing the car soon after since my car has been back and forth to the shop quite a bit lately.

I have the VRB2 with the Power Duct. I say its definetely worth it! I had some bad surging on the low end (like one of the other gentleman in this thread had) that Cartek could do nothing about. I installed this thing myself and it immediatly cleared up the surging. Power seems to hit harder also. Its definetely worth the money you pay for it.

I have both the Vararam and duct on my car. They were both installed on the same day, so I can't tell you the power increase of it. I got mine from marylandspeed.com. $350 for both shipped.

Thanks guys, I just ordered this last night and hopefully I'll receive it soon. I guess we'll see if there's any differences, I expect at least a little. The more I look at the stock duct the more restrictive it appears.
Tirecraft, I tried messaging you a while back but your PM box was full. I needed all the pieces though however I appreciate the offer.

I picked this up from Marylandspeed on sale for $80 shipped. I installed it last weekend and a few things are worth noting.
It's far better looking than the stock piece
It might be making more power however 10hp is hard to tell when there is 500 on tap, when I go to the track I'll find out if it made a difference.
Last and most important it made the car much more drivable in the lower rpm range. The car used to buck at anything less than 1900rpm, now I can cruise at 1500rpm if I wanted without any issues. I figured before it was just due to the cam but whatever it changed was worth every penny. I'm not sure if it has to do with it moving the MAF closer to the throttle body or if it's the airflow of the duct, whatever it is... it worked.
Thanks for the input!
