Rebuilding the Ghost, aka Great White
As mentioned in another thread, the engine failed in November of 2013. I had been buying parts for almost a year and hoped that the LS1 would last well into 2014. It didn’t and then the only thing useable on the “running LS2 engine” that I bought was the block. At that point, I figured I may as well take things a step further. I'll try to document the bulk of the combination here in this build thread.
There are still quite a few things left to do and hopefully it will be running before the end of the year. Either way, I'm not in any hurry. On to the details...

•Installed Darton Seal Tight Dry Liners and Stress Relieved Block
•Finish Honed block with torque plates for Wiseco pistons
•Step decked Block, sleeve flanges are .0015" proud +/- .0005"
•Rethreaded head bolt holes for 1/2" head studs
•Installed HTC Steel Main Caps
•Align Bored Block for steel main caps
Block as received from R.E.D.
Darton - 4.125” Bore - Dry Sleeves
HTC Billet Main Caps and ARP Main Studs
There are still quite a few things left to do and hopefully it will be running before the end of the year. Either way, I'm not in any hurry. On to the details...

Here's a little note about the piston and rod combo. Wiseco's catalog lists this piston as having a 1.140" compression height and compatible with a 6.125" rod length. This stack up will put the piston ~ 0.030" out of the hole with a nominal block height of 9.235". This wasn't acceptable for this build and the machinist had to take 0.030 off the tops of each piston to get back to the right clearance for this build.

Nice pile o' parts Ben!! Looks like there's been some thought put into it for sure.
I can't help but notice the precision box in the top right. Those wouldn't happen to be new snails for the ttix would they?
Any details on the rest of the rebuild plans? Heads? Converting to FAST intake?

Planned use is multi-purpose. Drive to the track-run 8's-drive home with a 6-speed, race at Texas Invitational, cruise to in-town and out of town car meets, attend half mile and full mile events in state and out of state. I may even take it back to the road course again. Basically use the car the same way I have for the past 5 years, but with more power and finally run a half or full mile event.

Thanks, I'll post up some more details. Turbos are the Precision billet 6265s. The FAST box contains a stock ls7 intake. I got it used for a great price.

I ordered them through Turbo Technology. They have always been helpful through the years even though I bought my kit used from an individual. They have the jigs for getting the elbows welded on correctly and squaring up the flanges on the turbine housing. These should provide the power I'm looking for now and then if desired, I'll do something custom down the road.

Thanks. It seems like it's been a piece at a time as the months have passed by. The last thing to manage is getting it back from the machine shop. Then it will be up to me to find the time to put it all back together, tune it and make sure it's ready to rip.
The build is it's own kind of fun but I really enjoy driving and racing with minimal downtime.

I have no choice. I sold my rear diff to Bill after purchasing a low mileage TR6060 and C6Z Diff from an '09 Z06 last year. It's been collecting dust waiting to be mated up. The stock C5 trans and diff was rated at 385 ft-lbs of torque. The only upgrades were a DTE brace and DSS 300M shafts. They survived 800 ft-lbs of torque and 1.5x 60 foots at the track. I'm planning to use the same formula here. I've purchased an ECS Trans brace and may add DSS shafts if needed.

Suggestion if you don't mind:
Have your reluctor indexed and TIG welded. I've seen too many moved reluctors lately. It's good, cheap insurance.
