Powershift vs. Granny-shift
Ive seen a lot of Z06 videos and most of them result in the driver granny shifting the car... Is there a reason not to powershift these cars? Tail happy, no need to power shift cuz of power or just bad drivers??
For example heres how i bang through gears (6MT)

Low torque engine VS a high torque engine. You may have also noticed the BMW requires more shifts than the Vette does. That is due to the high torque at low rpm along with a very wide fairly flat torque band. However, even with a BMW you don't bang shifts on track due to the likelihood of upsetting the car balance and causing a major on track butt pucker.
With the high torque engine in the Vette it is even easier to upset the car with hard shifts abrupt throttle application or pulling the foot off the throttle too fast. That can create some major butt puckering. However, when you learn to control the beast it is amazing how fast those BMWs disappear in your rear view mirror.

Guess it depends on your power, clutch, and tire setup.
I have a triple disc clutch, big power, and 15" tires... so my concern would be powershifting a gear and dead hooking. Eventually I feel like something would give.
Also I feel like the faster the car is, the less time you have in each gear to concentrate on the shift, the more your mind is concentrating on actually driving and traction, etc. I used to slam gears and powershift my 400rwhp Cobra like it owed me money.
I'm sure it's different for everybody, but I used to wonder the same thing... until I experienced it.

Because they don't have a 'manumatic' or whatever you want to label that transmission as? That was a far cry from power-shifting, more like a 'granny-manual-o-matic'

are you calling the M4 an automatic manual? lol if so then negative, my car has a 3rd pedal

I would personally never trade the tenths of a tenth advantage for syncros and blocking ring durability.
I enjoy driving more than I do pulling transmissions and sending them out for rebuilds.

If u want drag racing results u better be power shifting in my opinion. These cars power shift like butter especially if the tune is tweaked for it! Only do it when u need to 😉

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
You could hear that the BMW was lifting during the shift, so it was just a fast shift, not a powershift.

power shifting is also called speed shifting in my area. There is logic behind that.
Every time you shift you are loosing time.
If you want to do it right--put in a lighter flywheel clutch combo and a lower geared diff.
Much easier on components with those mods.
is it worth it--well that is very relative.

If you want the speed and awesomeness of power shifting without the wear and tear...get a WOT box. They're worth EVERY PENNY.
