Default 6 speed transmission question

Purchased my first corvette (used 91 corvette) two weeks ago. About time--I'm 67 years old. Ran the VIN at the dealers and it came up with codes ML9--transmission,manual 6 speed and MN6--transmission, manual 6 speed provisions(merchandising option).....the dealer says the MN6 means nothing. Is the dealer correct? Thanks

Update...the Service Parts Identification sticker located between the bucket seats under the console (?) cover also lists both codes ML9 and MN6. The aluminum plate attached to the tranmission says ZF type S6-40...parts list number 105200036 if that helps.

Thanks!

ML9 is the GMSPO for the ZF transmission and parts/service information reference

MN6 is "marketing/sales" information.

An A4 would display

MD8 - GMSPO 4L60 for parts/service reference

MX0 - "sales/marketing" information

That plate reads ZF type S6-40. Many of us have shortened this term to simply "ZF6."

Congratulations on the new Corvette and Welcome to the forum.

If you want to learn more about the ZF 6 speed try looking at

http://www.zfdoc.com/

He is quite respected as the expert about our 6 speeds and has a lot of information on his site.
