Default Line in the dash - is this normal?

Hello,

I have a distinct line in my dash on the passenger side. It looks like a little depression - maybe it is where the air bag is or something? I just tried to take a picture of it with the car in my garage and it is not very obvious, however outside in the right light it is very apparent. I will take a better picture when I have a chance however for now see below for the actual picture and then my illustration to show where the line is. Anyone else notice this? No biggie?

Pretty sure it's the line where the plastic is weakened to allow the airbag to burst through it and deploy

I'd never noticed it before, but you made me go look under the fluorescent lights in my garage. My '14 has it, and it's definitely where the air bag would have to deploy. When you're looking for it, it's clearly visible.

Yes, but as mentioned it is clearly visible under the right lighting.

I have the same and apply a shiny dash protectant which makes it harder to see.

I don't see it on mine but can feel the area being softer when I push on it.

I have it too, but don't like it. It's only normal for corvettes.

My 2016 Malibu has air bags, and no line is visible, but all 5 of my last Vets show the lines around the air bag. None of my other GM cars ever had this defect.

I guess that's the price we have to pay for buying cheap cars.

It's the airbag line and I've noticed it on my last few cars. Like it or not, it's a part of our lives now.

You'll also see a sort of "S" shaped line on the steering wheel, for the same purpose.

Yes it's the air bag deployment door. That part of the dash will tear open to release the bag.
