do you mean NCRS judging?
if so there is more to it than appearance such as date codes.

Hi b,
The part number appears to be appropriate for a 69 sb, 4 speed, application. The nose should be cast iron.
I can't see enough of the date stamp to know what it is…. is it appropriate for your car? Since the starter was installed in St.Louis is 'can' be after the engine's assembly date but must be before the car's build date.
Based on the info in the 68-69 TIM&JG the noses on 69 starters were typically painted black along with the starter's bodies.
The black Bakelite cover on the solenoid was typically unpainted.
Regards,
Alan

Hi b,
Sorry, but really not sure about bolt placement! We really need a 69 sb person!!!
The original 8338 on my 71.

Alan

Hi b,
It's part of the ignition/engine harness and provides a ground for the wiper motor.
Regards,
Alan

Here's a shot of an untouched BB starter. I know it doesn't help your original question...you can see the ground wire is tucked between the shield and nose. Not curled as shown above. I checked two other originals as well.

i really doubt an original 1969 nose would have both both patterns
