Tonight's question.....battery tenders!
Okay! You guys did so well last night helping me with the front license plate issue that I'm coming to ya again! What's your suggestions as far as buying a battery tender goes? I see there's one that plugs into the accessory port of the car....very simple...but too good to be true? I have no idea what's hokey and what's the real deal so fire away. Thanks AGAIN!

I have a Deltran Battery Tender Plus, use it during winter storage of my C6, and to recharge my Golf Cart battery during the summer months.
It's 7 years old, and has never let me down, nor the batteries themselves. I don't use the accessory plug attachment, for the C6, but many do.
I plug mine to the battery posts with the clips, and leave my hood slightly ajar, under my car cover.

I have a connection under my hood and also have an accessory plug for the lighter...depending on what time of year it is and if I want to leave my windows down to plug into the lighter....both options have their advantages and disadvantages....but I like choices so that's why I have connections at both locations.

CTEK, Deltran and Schumacher are all good brands.
Using the lighter adapter is the easiest way to connect it to the car IMO.
You can run the wire out through the door, there are channels in the door sill that will accommodate the cable without damaging it.

I have a Ctek US 3300 that I got from Amazon and love it. I added their "comfort connect" quick disconnect plug under the hood of both my cars (I think the charger comes with one) and their 8 foot extension cable. It came with the accessory port / cig lighter plug but I've never used that.
So whichever car I'm not driving for the week stays plugged in. The WRX has been on it for most of the summer and the Corvette will be on it all winter. My Miata was on it for the last few winters.

I have a Black & Decker BM3B. Got it from Amazon for about $20. Works great. It comes with connections for the cig power plug, battery posts and a permanent connection.

I've had more than one battery killed by a Deltran Battery Tender.
These days my favorite maintainer is the Optimate 1 from TecMate.
Better technology and a higher quality product.

I have both a Battery Tender Plus and a Ctek 3300. I like the Ctek better.

Bought a Ctek years ago. HST, most people can't believe I still have my original battery in my 08, attribute this to the Ctek, have it on whenever the car's in the garage (always).
YMMV
