Default TH400 rebuild

Just sent my TH400 for rebuild.
Engine is a 468cui with Straub cam,duration 229 241, lift .620 .580, stock heads, 10,5 CR.
Question is, what stall should i aim for?
Its a cruise ride so i dont want anything extreme.
Your thoughts guys!

Straub has no recommendations for the proper stall with their cam?

You need to contact the tech folks for the brand of torque converter you are considering. Asking us is a cr@p-shoot; they do this for a living and are pretty good at it, if you tell them what you have and what you want the car to be able to do.

What rear gear are you running? Are you going to be drag racing it or just a nice cruiser?

A tight 10" from any of the good converter vendors will work well, you just need to tell them the combo and what you are doing with the car, they'll tailor the converter to your needs. I normally use FTI for custom converters, but if you just want a nice driving, "off the shelf" converter, the Hughes Transmissions GM25 is a nice converter.. It's a "2500 stall", that feels close to stock around town. Pretty mild but great for a driver.

If you're just going to be driving it on regular street tires, no point in putting any more converter then that in it.
