Michelin has introduced the new Pilot Sport 4S tire at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show
The latest ultra-high-performance offering from Michelin succeeds the popular Michelin Pilot Super Sport, designed for sports cars and high-performance vehicles. According to Michelin, the Pilot Sport 4 S combines the best aspects of the Pilot Super Sport with key attributes of the Pilot Sport Cup 2, resulting in “unprecedented driving pleasure, exceptional steering precision and tremendous directional stability, while also providing maximum grip on wet or dry roads.”
The Pilot Sport 4 S bears a (Y) speed rating (186+ mph) and offers a 30,000-mile warranty. The tire is commercially available in Europe starting this month, and available in the United States starting in March for a suggested retail price of $233. The product line initially includes 35 sizes, in widths ranging from 225mm to 345mm, aspect ratios from 30 to 45, and rim diameters from 18 to 20 inches.

It doesn't appear to be visually different from the PSS. I am fascinated by how Sport Cup 2 technology could be incorporated, and it is claimed to still be good for up to 30K miles. The PSS certainly isn't on our cars, practically speaking.

I think more people are getting more miles out of the OEM PSS tires than you might realize.
I got 35k out of my fronts, and 45k out of my rears. I was surprised that my fronts wore out first, though. None of my C6 tires wore the fronts out first.

I think the 30K warranty only applies if you can rotate the tires. On previous PSS tires I owned the warranty was only 15K miles if you couldn't rotate.

The OEM PSS tires are asymmetrical but not directional, and the OM recommends that you rotate them every 7,500 miles.
That said: members who have rotated them reported a mixed result. I rotated mine once, but will never do it again, because I didn't like the way it handled afterward.

They don't mention if they are run flats, they do mention this
" and a rim protector that will help avoid contact between the wheel rim and curb" A nice plus for those prone to curbing their car.
I'm due for tires soon so I'll certainly wait until march.

As wonka said, cut the mileage warranty almost in half for staggered fittments usually.

Hopefully supply won't be as terrible in our sizes as the non RF PSS was. Wish there was somewhere to preorder as I will be needing new tires for the start of AutoX season in April and I'm not going to a dedicated tire yet.

Does "4S" mean 4 season? If not, it's a very confusing and almost deceitful name IMO.

The "4S" is deceiving, though.

No, I think it puts it more in line with the European line. They have had a Pilot Sport 2, then a Pilot Sport 3 and recently a Pilot Sport 4 in Europe and now a Pilot Sport 4S for both Europe and US which replaces the PSS that was available in both markets.
The "4S" is deceiving, though.

From the beginning, my car had a slight pull to the right when driving with no hands on the wheel. I think this was a common issue and maybe even the subject of a service bulletin. Since it was a non issue with at least one hand on the wheel, I kept a watch on my tires for any uneven wear and didn't think anymore about it. I rotated my tires at 8K and now the previous slight pull to the right, has turned into a slight pull to the left, suggesting the cause is tire related rather than alignment. Other than that, I haven't noticed any changes. I'm curious what changes you noticed after your rotation.
