Michelin has introduced the new Pilot Sport 4S tire at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show

They are not runflats and are not all season. Checked pricing today and they are cheaper than the PSS runflats and the same price as the PSS non runflats. For what Michelin is saying is even better performance, I'm pulling the trigger on them!

Greetings,
I have...replaced my OEM tires 6+ months ago with the new 4S's. They are non-runflat and I went one size larger in the rear (295's). They provide a much better ride than the ZP's; softer and more comfortable ride.
In case of flat tire, I carry a small compressor and can of Slime in the rear left compartment in the trunk area.
Michelin also has a new tow policy - anytime to anywhere.
Love the tires.

I really can't comment on the performance comparison between the newer tires versus OEM. However, the ride is considerable better (cracks, small potholes, reflectors on freeway, etc. are less noticeable).
Since I don't track my car, it's impossible to say the car handles any better. Most of my spirited sprints is getting on the freeways (usually a long curve) and I can't tell any difference in tire grip, etc. I can say with certainly there is no loss in performance.

I doubt they grip better than PSS

They are the replacement for the PSS and are using technology from the Cup2 tire which is a superior tire to the PSS so I am betting they grip as well if not better than the PSS. I remember back in the day when the PS1 & PS2 were out and were the hottest tire and then the PSS came out was the king of the hill. The 4S is the fourth generational tire in this line up so I expect it to be better. There is a PS4 out as well but the PS4S is the top of the line as far as performance goes.
I researched it and there was an interview w/ the designer of it at Michelin and he said it will exceed the performance of the PSS in all areas, including wet/dry braking and lap times. They started w/ 3000 rubber compounds and ended up w/ what is now the PS4S.

I thought they were a PS2 replacement. Anyway, it's shame they dont have them in widebody size.

Our PSS was the replacement to the PS2, I cant speak for the widebody sizes but it looked like a lot of sizes available on Discount Tire's site so check that out if you haven't. The biggest determining factor if someone goes w/ these or not (other than size) is if they want to run a non runflat.

Dang... now I need to decide if I want to ditch the runflats. I have already suffered through two flat tires and the runflats were clutch in keeping me from getting stuck.

Lets see...perhaps I am a bit uninformed but how do you rotate tires when they are a different size on the front than the real....radials are not supposed to be rotated side to side...

The OM does state that tires should be rotated side to side every 7500 miles. Owners doing so have reported a mixed bag of results, with some saying it helped, some saying it sucked and will never do it again.

I now have a little more than 2000 kms on these with a couple of lapping days and an autocross. They ride far better than the PSS that came on my C7Z and so far the wear is better too. I also went to a 325 19" rear and saved close to $200 per tire over an OEM sized PSS. i have lost a bit of feel however handling and grip are great. I was the fastest street tired stock car this past weekend at the ZMAX autocoss and beat out other C7's on PSS and Bridgestone RE71r.
