C6 Value
Hey guys, I know things are only worth so much on paper and then it comes down to how bad you want something. But my neighbor has decided to sale his vette and it has been the most pampered cared for car on the planet. Need to see if y'all think it's worth the price. 30k for an 08 Z51 Red coupe car, 3LT package with 10k miles. Only upgrades are tinted windows and has 2 tops. New tires. Whatcha think?

For reference:
When I was looking for a new '07 10 years ago, a couple of dealers were actually advertising new 1LTs for $39,999
I would think that car should have a "2" as the first number in the price.

I'd say it's pretty close, maybe a couple thou too high. The '17s are out and makes that a 9 year old car, plus last gen. Is it auto trans? Depending on where he lives it could sell, but in most of the country this is winter. What does KBB/Edmunds say on it after he plugs in all options?
And actually to add to C6's post above, for stripped 1LT's, that happened for about 3 model years, and the new-car price was as $39K ('07, '08 and '09). But it may not have much bearing on your neighbor's sale price today.

I paid $30,000 for a very similar car last year. Mine had 26k miles but in show room condition, convertible and Z51. But again, it was last year. I love the car, you will be very happy with it. Now, that is asking price, I would offer $25 to start the negotiation, hoping to meet half way but at $28 is still a good deal, in my opinion. Good luck.

It may be a little high but from what I've seen, C6 values are holding up pretty well. It's resale red, 3LT (almost fully loaded), Z51, low miles, new tires, and you know its whole history (that's worth a fair amount for peace of mind). If you want it I'd say go for it. You could always ask him if he would take $29k for it.......

As for the "most pampered car on the planet," well, you've never seen me take care of mine. My neighbors all think I'm nuts.

Right time of year, for a buyer. If it's super clean and what you want, don't beat him up too bad. He'll likely take anything close after thinking it over. Knowing it's across the street is pretty cool for him.

I think it's a very solid deal, and the fact that you know the history and don't have to fly somewhere and deal with all that to get it has some real value. Doing $30K transactions with a stranger in another state is stressful overall.
I bought my '08 Z51 3LT with 12K miles and lots of nice mods (that I wanted) for $31K 16 months ago. But I had to fly to IL (from TX) to get that sort of deal and work with a guy that wanted cash, didn't trust me, held the title for 2 weeks, etc...

Seems like a decent offer. Bought my similarly optioned 2005 7 years ago from a dealer for $28k. Do a search in your area to make a better determination. Decide what's important in your purchasing decision. If it's price, keep looking ...probably for the next year. If it's piece of mind, convenience, its the car you want, then buy it.

If it's your forever car, go for it. If you intend on reselling it in a couple years, you're going to be way in the hole. Usually I don't trust kbb, but in this case I'd say they're pretty accurate. $28k is ALL the money for it, $26 is probably what it's worth.
But, if you want to pay for perfection, don't pass it up.

Is it a one owner? Kelly Blue Book has it priced at $27,700 from a private owner in my west Texas zip code. 30k is slightly high, but knowing the history of a car is of some value. If you know for a fact it has never been raced or driven by teenagers, that's worth a grand right there - IMO. If you are serious, copy the Kelly BB information, get a cashiers check or cash in the amount of $28,700, have a few beers with him and plop down the money. The worst he can do is say no. Let us know what happens.

Thanks for all the replies, it's an A6 car. Original owner, and i actually pushed him a little to sale it after i seen it. I've NEVER seen him drive it. 65 years old and retired, and he is scared to drive it on the interstate because of rocks he said. No track or young drivers, just him. I wanted my Dad to buy it because he's in the market but he don't want to spend that much. I have a C6 now, LS2 car. So if i wanted this car and i want to give 28k for it, he would more than likely wait on me to sale mine. I think mine is worth 22 so i'd have to add to it by at least 6k and then i'm out of funds for mods lol

My current car, i love it and it was pampered as well. It's a little high on mileage (72k) but i bought it bone stock. Only engine upgrades are k&N and corsa exhaust. This is what i'd be giving up and adding several G's to get a bone stock red Z51. The main attraction to me is the low miles and LS3
