Default Any idea if these rims will fit my 84?

https://dayton.craigslist.org/wto/5943921766.html

Can anyone tell me if these will fit my 1984? I've scoured the web and I'm thinking no after reading due to the higher offset but I thought I would ask before moving on. Seems different websites have conflicting information about the C4 rim sizes patterns. Thanks in advance.

edit: sorry for poor formatting, am on mobile at the moment.

Wheel offset is expressed in millimeters (mm). The ad appears to show the backspacing which is usually indicated in inches.

If they really did come off an '87, they should fit your car. Ask the seller if he knows the wheel offset. It should be 38mm if they were made specifically for the 84-87 C4. If they are 56mm (or very close) offset, you will need adapters to get them to fit properly in the wheelwell.

If they really are "GM" wheels, they will have the GM logo and a part number molded into the back of the spokes. I didn't see anything like that so I would bet they are aftermarket

Great, I'll follow up with the guy. Didn't even think about them not being authentic GM so I'm glad I asked. Thank you.

If the 7.25 is a correct back-spacing and they're 10" wheels then they're 44mm offset and would be considered I believe to be a fit for the '84 car. Tire dimensionaly, if you're happy with the 35 profile is very close also. Profile is a "personal preference" kinda thing. I based the comparison on a 9.5 @ 38

Have the seller show you a pic with those rims/tires on his old 87. Then post the pic here.

Here's the pic he provided. Looks sweet to me. So they should definitely fit my 84? Anything special that can prove that's an 87?

Have him send you a photo of the VIN. It should be within these numbers:Coupe Serial Numbers: 1G1YY218xH5100001 - 1G1YY218xH5130632

If those were true GM rims, they should have the Corvette logo's on the center caps. They are C6 Z06 style rims. I would vote that they are reproduction rims.

Having said that, they look like "Factory Reproductions" from Chino, Ca. but those are 18x9.5 and can be gotten with either +40 or +56 backspace on them in the 18x9.5 size. Because you don't know if the width noted is just a tape measure measurement or if it's the actual bead width, it's hard to know for sure. If +40 in this width, they should mount without using spacers.

Here's a nice wheel/tire calculator webpage: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm
Plug in your existing setup and what you want and it will show how they should fit. I've used it and found it helpful.

I happen to have an 86 convertible (which is similar to yours) and between this and a bunch of other checking, came up with this combination:
18"x9.5" +40 backspace rims. 255x40zr18 tires. They should fit like the original 16"x9.5" +38 rims with 255x50zr16 tires that originally were on the car. The reason I know about the rims I noted, I have a set that were delivered last week in the C6 Z06 style in the 18x9.5 +40 dimensions. They're sitting in the basement right now waiting for some work to be done then it's onto an alignment then tires.

One more thing, if you like those wheels noted, I found you can get them cheaper through resellers sites than the mfg/importer website by almost $200. Same wheels, just different markup.
