I hope they catch them also but if it got stolen in Detroit there is a good chance it was stripped completely in less then 24 hours. I hope not for the owners sake but it may not look good for the Vette or the Jeep or the truck or trailer the 2 cars were in. Canada is real close to Detroit and if they can get it across the river it is gone for sure. Lets just hope the guy gets his car back. Kind of sounds like a transporter rather then the owner was hauling the cars. Sounds like a private guy rather then a big company.

A hotel manager here also said that surveillance cameras did not pick up anyone driving off with the trailer.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE God, before I die, let me catch one of these SOBs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At my age, what can the law do to me? No, I won't kill 'um, but when I'm finished, they will be praying to God to let them die!

Oh boy he got a free night stay at the Holiday Inn and it only cost him over 200K plus he has to figure out how to get home. What a shame. See how the Hotel was quick to say it was par on city property not there parking lot. They must hire a blind guy to drive around there parking lot and keep a bling eye on it.

My brother in law had a newly restored 65/396 stolen in the Detroit area in 2001. Friends were calling him for months afterwards reporting from swap meets all over the Midwest that fenders, hood, interior of the same color etc. we're being seen for sale.
When you've restored a car, you know the little things, repairs, blemishes unique to your car and the friends knew what to look for.
Insurance had paid and the police weren't interested in perusing info on where the vendors got the parts to sell.
Very sad situation for the owner of the 60. Dave

Had one of my Corvettes stolen. Police seemed to view it as a victimless crime because cars are insured. I found car in souther state where title washing was regularly done and police and insurance didn't care enough to pursue. Barrett Jackson sold the stolen car with the stolen information on registry. You are screwed. Protect your car as best you can and insure it to max.

I've never had a car stolen but when working I frequently had to deal with law enforcement for various issues on the railroad. I was unaware of how good a department ( a couple of them actually) we had. Even minor stuff like trespassing and graffiti were taken seriously and followed up on.
To have something much more major, like a stolen car, and having parts turn up which could lead to the crooks, and to have the cops do nothing, is amazing to me.

My 65 cpe was stolen about 2-3 weeks after I moved to Las Vegas for a new job. A neighbor in called the police when then saw someone messing with it. A police car came in one end of the parking area as the car was going out the other. I talked to the cop and he said he figured there was no way he could catch that car. He said by the end of the day it would be in a chop shop somewhere. I called the Vegas police once a month for over a year asking for any update, no luck!!!!
