No hub, I used it on the new repo 15" I put on the car.

I will have to take a picture of it tomorrow.

68hemi, you may have already done this, but if you monitor eBay on these items (and others you may be stripping from your car) it will give you a really good idea of how much useable parts are worth. There are a few original steering wheels on eBay right now. I would however suggest that you watch for the sold price versus what the asking price is. There is always someone who clearly didn't do their homework and is asking two to three times for the item versus other identical items on there. I am not saying that you would want to sell on eBay, just a reasonable way to do your pricing homework. Good luck.

I got a free one hanging on my shop wall with hub and center cap. Extra parts are always welcome. I have seen them on CL for a hundred dollars. Some of the " professionals " the forum with extremely high expectations would ask five hundred. Depends if you want to sell or desire every last dollar out of it.

I would keep it in a safe place if you are ever going to sell the car. A C1 without the original wheel is not as attractive to many potential buyers, me included.

The car will never be sold. I put the 15" repo look-a-like on the car to make it easier to get in and out.
It will just be taking up space and it can help fund some of the upgrades I am doing.

I'm like you.. My car is never going to be sold.. but I have a growing pile of original stuff in medium-to-poor condition. I have tried to re-use/refurb/replate anything possible, but some stuff it just too far gone or not worth it.

I actually sold my original wheel to VetteGal. She lives 5 miles from me. She paid me $100, and she listed it on her ebay site for $400.. Not sure if it sold or for how much.. but mine was Jewel Blue, had several cracks, and had faded to a weird aqua green color (as many Jewel blue wheels have).

All cars that are never going to be sold get sold. That's the way it is. I'm a hater of aftermarket wheels, for the most part. Especially when a car has such a beautiful wheel like a C1. I think 8 out of the 9 GTO's I've owned came with a POS aftermarket wheel. Always time consuming and expensive to return things back to normal. How much for the red '57 wheel on this thread?

At least the '58 wheels all seem to fade the same way.

Have you ever tried to get in a C1 car with the hardtop on? I have shrunk 1 3/4" over the years and am now only 5' 10" and in order to get in the car with the original wheel I had to sit on the door sill swing my leg around (that then hit the wheel hard) while trying try to duck under the hardtop and slide my leg under at the same time and I still had to drag my head across the weatherstripping to get in the car.

The repo wheel looks exactly like the original only 15" rather than 17" and makes a world of difference getting in an out.

If you are going to have the car judged NCRS that would be another thing, but this car will be staying in my family and they will appreciate what I am doing to this car.

Looks good!

I'm 6' 3" so the stock wheel was a no-go.
My wheel (Pelton) looks as good as stock to me.

I believe 58 is "Frost Blue".. Mine is Jewel Blue (61).. But it must have been something in the blue pigment!

You may be right, but at 57 years, and good interest from my son in being the next caretaker, I feel pretty confident.

An elderly friend of mine has a 60 with the same 15" wheel; they really do pass as stock at first glance. He has serious mobility issues and without the power steering and smaller wheel, he probably would have to sell the car. I too, am a fan of originality wherever possible, but in this case, it makes sense. Few ever notice the difference.

His only gripe is that he can't see the speedometer because of the smaller wheel!

If you go to "advanced search" in ebay, it will allow you to search CLOSED auctions. This is a faster way to get a sense for what things are going for.
