Bummer. Was surfing Youtube & came across this:

This guy will be missed from that show. A real mechanic's mechanic. Enjoyed watching & learning. Very talented guy!

Agreed.

Interesting story about what happened to the show.. The funny thing is Velocity Channel pushing to change it to the same format of the 30 other fix-up shows... No mechanical details and all drama BS.
I respect the guy for leaving a show that he can't be proud of, and walking away from big $$$$. I would guess he will turn up somewhere, and hopefully on his own terms.

I love his approach to repair. I made this sign to hang in my garage:

I agree with you completely. Without him, the show is toast.

I have a hard time believing Velocity would radically change the format of a winning show. At any rate I'd Edd leaves I'm done watching.

Did you watch the video? It costs more to do the 'shop work scenes', so they pushed them to minimize or leave them out to save production costs.
Plus they have refused to do product endorsement/marketing in the show, which would generate revenue..... but compromise the show (in my opinion)

I did not watch it... I don't believe 3/4 of what I hear on the Internet anymore. Maybe Edd just wanted too much money...or he an Mike had issues. Who knows..and doesn't matter. Its over. If its reincarnated as a "All Girl's Garage" clone where 50% of the time is huckstering products I guess we'll know...and it'll soon disappear.

And Edd did have his own show for a short time and it tanked out of the gate...
I'm more worried about dear, old Paul - I suspect he did most of the work anyway...

Thanks for posting this.....I am also a fan of the show (my favorite car show on TV) and its really a shame that Ed is leaving. Always liked his way of showing the problem and how to fix it. One hell of a lot more realistic than the other crap/fake car shows that focus on idiotic foolishness and silly false drama. So, Wheeler Dealers is about to jump the shark. Wonder how they will work in those "absolute must have deadlines" to have the cars done? Too bad.

No doubt the unique part of that show was China and his ability to tackle anything and nine times out of ten hit a home run with his diagnosis and repair, I've always thought he was the star of the show.

Edd also did a Facebook Live session where he answered questions for about 30 minutes. He seems like a straight shooter to me. He could have thrown Velocity under the bus, but he was very 'English proper' about it. Several fans asked about Paul.. and Edd admitted that Paul had the hardest job - as the cars would typically have 8-9 problems to fix.. and they would feature 3-4 on the show , which Edd would handle on-camera, and Paul would fix the rest off-camera!

That's really too bad. I won't watch the show anymore.
Just when things are going great with a good show, the brainchilds have to step in and ruin it. Doesn't make sense to me, but, I'm not a corporate wizbang.

Very disappointing. I'm going to miss those orange work gloves, and mop of grey hair poking up above the windshield of those little convertibles that Mike was so fond of picking up. Oh - and also how he pronounces "aluminum" which I find impossible to mimic.

Seeing Edd sit in some of those sports cars with his knees up under his chin will be sorely missed. The good thing I think he was smart enough to bankroll his take on the show and doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to anymore.

One of the best definitions of wealth I've ever heard is to be able to: ".....sit across the table from a guy you don't like and know you don't have to do business with him because you need the money".

In this case that 'guy' is the Velocity channel...

I'll get over it. I'm still PO'ed that they replaced the original Darrin on Bewitched...

I went over to Velocity's website and gave them feedback that I won't watch Wheeler Dealers any longer, and want to see Edd China on a new show. Here is the feedback link if you want to do it too: https://www.velocity.com/general/contact

Lets cut out all of the cool stuff and replace it with fake drama car shows and stupid antics.

I just sent Velocity my opinion.....they made a huge (and expensive) mistake. I don't think they realize that all the real car guys on hundreds of car enthusiast forums are big fans of Edd and the show in general. Auto technician/restoration guys like myself have MUCH respect for Edd, and ZERO respect for fake drama. And no time for it, either. Bad decision....

It sucks that happens to all the good shows. I used to like Fast N Loud and then they quit doing cars an average guy could get and everything had to be six figures and all drama with very little actual car work.

Even Roadkill on YouTube is getting starting to Jump the shark. They use to do all budget and junk yard stuff which was fun but now it's all high dollar parts and drag racing.
