Are these original? See Pics below.
I found one on each side of the car located on the inside of the rear door jamb pillar, and near the latch striker pin. One was approximately mid way down the other had fallen to the bottom down by the courtesy light switch, had they both fallen I would have never found them. I did not find reference in the AIM, but the material matches the same as the frame rail shield and body sill wedge. If they are original what were they for and whereabouts do they get positioned?

Hi,
They are "pads" that are slipped into the lock pillars while the birdcage and rear clip are being assembled.
If you remove the small access cover from the front of the rear wheel-well and stick you hand/arm up about 10" you'll feel them in place if part is still there.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks! With your AIM info, I now see it in the 69 AIM as well, I looked and looked but I just didn’t notice the dotted line reference. In the AIM it looks like it is set in line with the latch striker pin. In my pic it looks like it was just below the striker pin frame.

mine were glued in above the wiring to the door switch. I have the glued access plate cover off at the no 3 mounts and I could just touch them with my finger. I would say they are to stop road noise coming up into the cabin

Hi Lou,
"When people ask a question on here, they really need to say what year their car is."
You're right!
When folks forget you have to try to be a detective!!!!
The shoulder belt bolt head is the 'clue' on this one! It narrows the possibilities down a bit.

Alan
