If you're looking for a Houston area speed shop you should stop by VZ Autoworks in Tomball. Great shop with great people.

Thanks for the recommendation, is that just a buddy's shop you're advertising or you've used them? I have a guy doing all the work on my Vette but I've never had him tune my vehicles...I have used Pat G in Victoria in the past as my tuner.

Nope, not a buddy. I just know people who have used them and received excellent service and superb work. The owner, Victor, is well-known as one of the best tuners in the area.

I live in the Dallas area so I have not had any work done by them.

VZ is looking less and less like a corvette performance shop and more like a generic mechanics shop. Oil changes, alignments, tune ups, still some bigger projects. They do have a strong following.

Last I knew 510 race engineering was doing tuning/porting for VZ. They lost my confidence and I switched to KP racing. I like KP and they did a good job on my procharged car.

Pat G also has a great reputation. I saw his post on his personal grand sport. Very nice.

Yeah I used Pat G to tune my G8GT... did an amazing job... Never heard one bad thing about his tuning. How is KP in terms of pricing? I get the impression they'd be on the high side. I have a mechanic by the name of Billy Whatley from a Pasadena doing my work and going to tune tho I've never had a tune by him.

That is true, but you can only install so many headers or superchargers on the same car, at least with general maintenance you, "the shop", can keep money coming in. One thing that Victor does, that not many shops will do, is that he has come to my place to do repairs or fix stuff that has broke, "due to wear and tear". He even met me at his shop at 9:30 PM to work on my trans when my Vet and I arrived via a flat bed. On a different occasion, he rebuilt my diff free of charge, so that I could drive to work, while I waited for my new RPM diff to arrive. He is VERY trustworthy and has a GREAT work ethic. I was so impressed by the many years of great service by him at his last location, that I tried to get him hired on at Shell at my current location.
