We’ve seen spy shots of the upcoming ZR1 before, but this latest batch of photos is the best thus far to surface the interwebs. Obviously, the first thing you’ll notice is the massive rear wing out back. On another mule, you’ll see a different wing, however that one is much shorter and flatter, with less attack angle than the taller variant.

Up front, an aggressively designed front bumper with three large air dams can be seen, in addition to a front air splitter with side winglets. Even with the camouflage, it’s easy to notice the large bulging hood sporting all sorts of air ducts and vents. Visible LED running lights, side fender air vents, side mirrors, and a red interior seem to be carried over from 2017 models. Still, one thing’s for sure: this is the most aggressive, road-going Corvette we’ve ever seen.

What engine is under the massive vented hood? As of now, Chevrolet has yet to spill the beans. We can speculate the familiar LT4 6.2L V8 will find its way inside the engine bay, albeit with a larger supercharger. However, rumors say there might be a new “LT5” equipped with not one, but two turbochargers. As far as numbers go, expect the upcoming ZR1 to put down at least 700 ponies to the rear wheels. A horsepower figure hovering around 750 would be ideal for a C7 ZR1, though.

The 2018 Corvette ZR1 is expected to make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Stay tuned for more news.
