Hoonigan & Roadkill’s Epic Corvette Burnout Show (Torque Tuesday Presented by Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus)

Hoonigan C5 Corvette burnouts

When the gearheads get together for burnout mayhem; the C5 Corvette uses its power and agility to throw down with savage grace.

If you have ever done a burnout, then you definitely get the appeal. It is ridiculously fun and oh-so satisfying to rev, screech, spin, and smoke those tires. However, if you have a Corvette–well, you probably don’t want to put your sweet whip through the unnecessary danger of something going wrong. Thankfully the crew at Hoonigan are pretty much down to try anything. And in a recent video, we get to live vicariously as they take three of their project cars and unleash them in a blaze of burnout action. But it is the C5 Corvette Z06 that masterfully melts rubber while spinning like it is on ice.

David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan from Roadkill dropped by the Hoonigan’s turf to film a segment for an upcoming episode. But while they’re there, they obviously have to mix it up. Doing donuts and scorching tires is just the right opportunity to raise a little hell. And that means taking it to Hoonigan’s Tire Slaying studios.

A little background on the C5 Corvette: Hoonigan just picked up this Corvette about a month ago. Purchased for $5,000 the Z06 looks good, but needs work. It was a salvage title with very high mileage and was also neglected for several years. We look forward to seeing what they’ll do to this new addition their incredible stable of project cars. Of course, before they even consider a build plan, they have to see just what this Corvette can do.

Even with its hard living high-mileage and head-scratching Z51 badge; the car is still pure Corvette. And this was just a taste of what this ‘Vette could do.

With Mike Finnegan behind the wheel in the yard, we find out. He goes in hard, and the Corvette responds with plenty of power on tap. With the LS6 under the hood, the C5 Corvette produces 405 horses and maximum torque of 399 lb-ft at 6000 rpm.

That power is evident in how the Corvette beautifully spins and glides. Finnegan controls the Corvette perfectly, even as he pushes the limits. But the Corvette keeps up with exceptional handling, whipping around in perfect donuts as it shreds.

Even sparking and spitting flames, the Corvette keeps on rolling. It is a burnout beast!
