This week we are featuring a 1978 Corvette Coupe which has been part of the same family since day one. CF member, Shark Racer, nominated his car, which he’s owned since it was given to him on his 16th birthday by the best grandparents ever and it has clearly always been loved.

It was mostly original until a high-flow catalytic converter and aftermarket mufflers were installed; that’s when “things started to get interesting. Now, every system on the car has been touched (springs, shocks, strut rods, built diff with 3.73s, TKO, heads, cam, custom QuadraJet (built by me with lots of advice from Cliff Ruggles and Lars).”

This Corvette may not seem incredibly impressive on its own, but it has served a greater purpose than anyone might expect from a man’s first car: he gained friendships, knowledge and skills that have served him well with five other Corvettes, and it even gave him the push he needed to improve his life and career.

This is the car that got me through high school and college; I drove it on my first date, drove it to my high school graduation, college graduation, my first job interview, my first autocross and so much more. It may not be the most desirable of Corvettes, but it’s the first I’ve owned (I’ve had 6 now) and the only one I still own. It would be hard to imagine it not being around. It’s been around me my entire life, and is going to stay around for quite a long time.

The only thing missing is MOARRRR PHOTOS!!!

Congratulate Shark Racer and nag him to share more photos of his ’78 coupe!

Nominate your C2 to be featured next week!

I'd rather be driving my Tumbler.
