Do You Regret Not Buying a C8 Corvette With the Z51 Package?

C8 Corvette Without Z51 Package

The Z51 Package has been incredibly popular so far, but few CorvetteForum members regret passing it up, it seems.

When the C8 Corvette was originally revealed, one of the biggest headlines was its incredible base price of just under $60k. Of course, not many C8s are being sold with zero options, and prices can easily encroach on the six-figure mark with a few options tacked on. But one option most C8 buyers seem to be going for is the Z51 package, which offers up more power and a host of desirable performance goodies for an extra $5,000 (or $5,995 for 2021).

Regardless, there are plenty of folks that have wondered whether or not the Z51 package was worth that extra outlay of cash. That includes Corvette Forum member bbarber21, who recently went to the forums to see if anyone who had skipped the Z51 package regretted that decision.

“I’m new to the forum, and have a burning question. It might be a loaded question, but I’m wondering if the non Z51 buyers regret their choice? I have a deposit down for my first Corvette and am currently thinking through a few builds, one Z51 and one non Z51. Just wondering if there was any buyer’s remorse out there. Also, if you’re a Z51 buyer that regrets that choice, I would also love that feedback as well. Thank you!”

Interestingly, despite the Z51’s popularity, there are quite a few C8 owners that don’t regret passing it up.

“Not even a fraction of 1%. Not the option for me, I never track my cars and I hate spoilers,” said Telepicker.

“Not at all. I got NPP exhaust but decided the Z51 wasn’t worth getting that hideous spoiler. IMO it looks cleaner naked,” added Whiskerbiscuit.

“I’m waiting to place my order and have no intention of going z51; won’t be tracking the car and will use it for other options (I also don’t like the spoiler).

“My build will be a 2LT. Money well spent in other areas for my buildout, IMO – including HTC, GT2 seats, the $1,500 Trident wheels, two-tone interior, etc,” said jpeezy14.

Many also point out that Mag Ride wasn’t a standalone option in the 2020 model year, but now that it is, it makes the Z51 package even easier to skip. Plus, it seems that the summer tires included with the package are a bit of a turnoff for some as well.

“Picking mine up at the museum on the 25th. Did not order the Z51 due mainly to the tires. I have a friend with a Shelby and it’s a handful on those tires when it’s cold. I did not want to limit my driving or buy an extra set of tires. I did order the NPP exhaust and of course electronic lift,” said nc cali.

Perhaps it should come as a huge surprise, but it seems like exactly no one that has chimed in so far regrets their decision to forego the Z51 option. So we’re curious to hear what you think, especially if you own a non-Z51 C8. So head over here and chime in with your thoughts on this fascinating subject!
