For a Good Cause: St. Jude’s Open Car Show

Cars are cool. We know this. But combining our love of cars with a good cause is a level of cool that can not be surpassed.

Coming up on Saturday, April 23rd, in Plaquemine (just south of Baton Rouge), Louisiana is the St. Jude’s Open Car Show. The show, which is hosted by the Baton Rouge Corvette Club, is open to any and all types of cars, with the main goal being to raise money for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. In the few years that this event has been running, an incredible $400,000 has been raised for the charity, and that is helped by having 100% of the proceeds donated to the hospital.

There will be a lot of activities to partake in aside from a car show, with prizes for show-winning cars, auctions, raffle tickets to buy, and “valve cover racing” (think pinewood derby with big block valve covers!). And to get in on all of the action, a modest $40 donation is all that’s needed. The donation gets your car into the show, along with an excellent plaque featuring you and your car, and other event apparel.

If you have any questions, more information can be found on the event’s website, right here. And there’s plenty of information on the forum too.
