Hendrick Pays $800,000 for First Convertible Z06

About the only thing really up in the air when this ‘Vette crossed the auction block was how much the car would actually sell for, because anyone who knows anything about Barrett-Jackson had to figure Rick Hendrick would be taking home the first retail model of the convertible Z06.

The Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team owner typically outbids everybody when it comes to hot Corvettes up for auction at the popular Scottsdale event. He paid $800,000 for this latest addition to his collection. But hey, it’s a write-off, since all the proceeds from the sale are going to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

In total, Hendrick’s tally now comes to $1.1 million paid for the very first retail 2014 Corvette, $1 million for the first Stingray convertible, and $1 million for the first C7 Z06, plus the $800,000 he just paid for the first convertible Z06. And that’s just the C7s!

Is it just me, or is there anyone else thinking this Rick Hendrick is one lucky guy?
