As far as ringing endorsements for the new Z06 go, it doesn’t get any better than the praise the car recently got from Jeff Gordon, who drove the ‘Vette as the pace car for this year’s Indianapolis 500.

During a recent interview for the big race, the five-time NASCAR winner talked up the Corvette quite a bit, as highlighted in the video below from Indystar.com.

“My (NASCAR ride) might be a little bit more like a Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The amount of power that car has and how awesome it is, it’s not just a thrill to be here and be the pace car driver. I get to drive a very cool car.”

Given all the money that Chevy pours into the Indy race, I can’t imagine Gordon making any negative comments about the Z06. But still, I can’t imagine him describing the car as “awesome” without there being some degree of truth to the statement, given the level of respect that he holds in the world of racing.
