5 Reasons To Take Your Corvette on a Long Road Trip

Hesitant to pull the trigger on road-tripping your Corvette? Don’t be. A long road trip is your birthright.

Road-tripping in the U.S. is almost seen as a right of passage, something you have to do before you can move onto the next step in life. Life is best when you take a whole lot of them, though, because this is a big country, and there’s so much great stuff to see. We recently returned from a 7,000-mile road trip, and it has absolutely changed us for the better. Here are a few reasons why you should hop in your Corvette and go for a drive. It doesn’t matter if it’s a long weekend or a long month, just get out and enjoy. It’s the perfect time of year, so go somewhere far away from here.

1. You get to know your Corvette

Even if you’ve owned your Chevy for decades, you never know what you might learn about it on a long cruise. You’ll find out how well the seats are holding up about two hours into a highway stretch. You’ll find out just how far away from a city you can get before the radio station starts to fade. You’ll learn a thing or two about how much luggage you can really fit if you pack it for a three-week jaunt. Most important of all, you’ll find out whether you can make it.

2. Get to know yourself (or bring a friend)

More than your car, you might learn something about yourself. Do you have the fortitude to manage a long drive in an old two-seater? Are you cut out for this vintage car ownership game? How long can you really go between bathroom breaks? Bring along a friend to test their mettle while you’re at it. You’ll find out if you can make it.

3. See the country

We stopped into the National Corvette Museum on our way across the country, and completely recommend you do the same. If you can’t make that, there are hundreds of amazing automobile (or non-automobile) museums to see. Don’t want to see a museum? No sweat, just plot your path beforehand and you’ll see all of the cool stuff this wide world has to offer. Natural wonders? Tourist traps? Events? There are all kinds of reasons to head out into the great blue yonder. If you’ve wanted to see the purple mountains majesty or the amber waves of grain, there’s no better time than the present.

4. What’s the worst that could happen?

Well, the fact is that a lot of bad things can happen, but many of those same bad things can happen if you stick close to home, too. Life is all about weighing risk versus reward, and trust us, the rewards to a road trip are so great.

5. Live a little

You’ll never know how much you love life until you live it. Go see the world, or at least the country. You’ll be amazed at how great it is, and you’ll never stop wondering why you didn’t do it earlier.
