Shining in Corvette Bronze, ’68 C3 Corvette features matching-numbers 427/435 V8, claimed regional and national NCRS Top Flight honors.

Today, the C3 Era of the Corvette is known mainly for the icon’s descent into personal luxury. Out went the big V8 horses, in went leisure suits and malaise. The chrome vanished, the lines softened with fiberglass bumpers. Things could’ve been worse, of course. And though the ‘Vette survived the Seventies, redemption would wait until the mid-Eighties.

However, the era didn’t start in the lap of luxury. In 1968, the new C3 Corvette wore sharp lines containing firepower worthy of the muscle-car era it was born within. Brothers Gaston and Renzo Rossato of Miami dealer The Barn Miami possess one such example in the showroom as of this writing. And it’s a winner in every sense of the word.

“Perfect day, perfect car for what we’re doing right now,” said Gaston. “Dropping the top and cruising. It’s a great feeling. There’s something so iconic about the Corvette. It’s a car that almost everyone loves. Whether you like it or not, it’s something that you can appreciate, at least.”

This Corvette in particular has a lot going for it, including the L71 427 V8 with four-speed manual, and that stunning Corvette Bronze, a shade befitting the sunsets over Miami. But that’s not all it has going for it.

“It’s also serial number 2007,” said Gaston, “a very, very low production car. In fact, it was October 17, 1967 when this car was produced. Very early production. This car has a little history of being the 007 car. It’s pretty cool.”

It’s also optioned to the hilt, coming out to a total of $5,700 in 1968 dollars (just over $43,000 in 2021). This includes the $400 ($3,023 in 2021) 427 V8 option with 435 horses going through the four-speed. The Corvette Bronze is original to the car, too. All of it restored to concours-quality, resulting in a regional and a national Top Flight Award from NCRS.

“I’m glad we were able to enjoy this car on such a beautiful day in sunny Miami,” said Renzo.

We hope the next owner will enjoy this C3 Corvette as much as the Rossato Brothers did. It’s not every day one gets to experience such a magical ride, after all.
