Default Harmonic Balancer Issue

Hi Tadge ~ Harmonic balancer issues on Corvettes seem to occur quite frequently, including failures more than once on the same vehicles. Apparently the insulator in the center of the balancer fails, then the two halves start to separate and wobble.

Naturally, as the crankshaft turns and twists, the balancer absorbs incredible amounts of kinetic energy, particularly in high performance engine applications.

As I understand it, the balancer fitment is of a press-fit design. So how related to the problem is that, as opposed to if the balancer were of a mated slot and keyway design and in what way does the new GM OEM replacement balancer differ in design differ to prevent this failure from reoccurring again?

Thanks for any/all info, on what seems to be a long-time-running, real hot button issue on this Forum here and elsewhere. BTW, congratulations and major kudos on the re-birth design of the C7 Stingray...looking forward to joining the ranks as an owner one day!

I assume your question is not worthy of an answer, but I would sure like to hear one as I just checked my 2011 Grand Sport and yep, it wobbles 26,000 mi.
Comeonman, at least give us something!!
