It would be foolish - if properly rebuilt the CCM/BCM odometer function will have been reset to 0 and if NOT programmed with VIN & miles the miles can't be corrected after a specific number of miles driven. That mileage might be year dependent, it generally assumed to be 100 miles. Key learn is dependent also upon 1st install, if you have multiple keys I believe you use all or at least 3 maybe to create 'range' that will see the values of all. Using just 1 I believe it uses that keys value and creates a resistance window based on only it. You mentioned BCM so I'll assume newer C4. I don't believe that any of the C4 BCM actually had option content programmed but if it were I'd think maybe only '96. Never checked!

Depending upon the State if you could validate the miles at CCM/BCM replacement a 'Label' will sometimes be issued to be stuck to the door mentioning ODOMETER replacement @ xxxxx miles.

Year matters - what year?

VIN entry is available for all C4 CCM since '90. Doesn't effect run but is often used when validating originality. It's retained in the same EEPROM that stores ODOMETER information I believe. I have no idea if VIN entry is 'locked' at the 100 mile restriction or not. I'd certainly think that a properly 'REBUILT FOR RESALE' EEPROM certainly erased.

A 'REPAIR' of the BCM/CCM is an entirely different set of possible circumstances.
