Default Corvette tool kit.

Why doesn’t Corvette include a tool kit like Ferrari does?

I certainly respect anyone who would like such a kit - i personally would rather them spend the money on other more functional items - i can get any tool i need at higher quality and less expensively than anything they'd place in our cars...
Maybe just a page in the owner's manual with a list of the "standard" sizes used... seems like my 2019C7 has an odd assortment of metric and "standard" (sic as who needs the metric system!!) sizes..

Because Ferraris need a tool kit to get back and forth for service? My 17' Vette has yet to go to the shop, let alone had an issue where I needed a tool kit. I know this sounds flippant, but my neighbor has a Ferrari, and it barely drives between shop visits. I'll have to ask him if it has a tool kit. As are most Ferrari owners, he is not the type to pull a tool kit out...just his cell phone.

I used to carry a tool box in the car, with a few spare parts. Now, it is not as easy to diagnose a problem on the road, let alone fix it, so I stopped carrying any tools, except a Leatherman Tool. I now carry a phone, which we did not have in our pockets, back in the days when you could and had to fix your car on the side of the road. Which, I have done many times. Now, I just call AAA

When I started working on my C4 I had to get a Craftsman Combo Tool Set, so I could work on the car!

Most cars haven't required tool kits for decades. How often do cars break down along the road? Not very often even cars owned by very low income people don't break down all that often and when they do a few simple hand tools aren't going to help. We are long past the days of the Model T Ford that required only a few tools to maintain it even when the nearest service shop was 30 miles away across muddy and barely navigable roads.

I've never seen a OEM toolkit that looked to me like the tools were actually quality tools. I don't miss having the toolkit in my C8, until I saw this thread I never even thought about it lol

Great point - and FURTHER - has anyone ever met someone that is handy with cars and actually does work on them say "Geee - I wish i had a factory tool kit consisting of 8 things provided by the factory in a little bag - then marked up +$100 over its true value" My evidence suggests, anyone who is handy AND concerned about tool availability AND breaking down AND possilby being able to facilitate a roadside repair - simply get an old sack, place their 5 favorite tools, hose clamps and duct tape in it and toss it in the back... or in case of a C8, possibly the frunk.

I had an old factory jag tool kit that had a superior hammer dead blow for the knock offs,, the rest of the tools, champion brand, I never used.

It was old, and lead, so would be a non starter today, but had the advantage of not bouncing back, as a modern metal shot incased in plastic dead blow hammer willl if you swing it hard, which is not optimum around the wire spokes used next to the knock off spinners. The idea was, after the head gets chewed up enough through beating on the spinners , you just recast the lead and , presto, new hammer. and also the reason it had.a metal handle instead of the expected wood.

P.S. The metrinch tool set uses a computer design that drives both Metric and SAE with the same tool, which is nice when you don't know if a fastener is metric or not. Also drives by the flanks, so never rounds off the hardware, a plus when working on old stuff with rounded fasteners. I really like my set, but it is no longer USA made, so can't say about todays quality, but probably comparable, still lifetime guaranteed. . The only drawback is that the wrenches are more open, so will fall off the work if left unattended.
