Mag shocks for C8
I have just placed a deposit to get in line for a 2021 C8.
My question to you is: Which suspension will give me the smoothest ride. I am 67 years old and will be happy to sacrifice ultimate handling in favor of a more complaint ride. Half the people at the dealerships say to go with the base suspension while the other half say go with the base suspension combined with mag ride. Does the mag ride on the softest setting combined with the base suspension offer the most compliant ride or is it essentially the same as just the stock base suspension? If the mag ride will not further soften the suspension, I would prefer to spend the extra cost on other options.

For your request on the best riding of all the packages, even though I have not driven a C8, I can almost guarantee you the configuration of the base suspension with magnetic ride control will be the best.
When you have a car that's capable of going up to 180 mph, you have to make sure the car drives exceptional at 180 mph. With regular shocks, you have to add quite a bit damping to make sure the car drives well at high speeds. The downside of that is what you add for 180 mph, you own at 50 mph. So in your typical driving situation, you will have all the added damping for high speeds which will make the car ride significantly rougher.
With magnetic ride control, you can do completely different amounts of damping at lower speeds than you do at high speeds. So the amount of damping added to the car for 50 mph will be significantly less than 180 mph. That is the beauty of magnetic ride.
Hope that helps with your decision, Jim
