Anyone put this system in his or her car? I was looking at getting the Eclipse AVN 2454 but I was told that the volume controls were on the right side of the radio like it was meant for a right drive car and I want this to look as factory as possible so I am leaning toward the Kenwood system, I would like to know if anyone has this system in their car and if so how are they liking or disliking the unit?

Hi, if you mean the DDX7015, I have it, and it is excellent. I had the installers hide the TV, Sirius, and Nav antennae in the rear bumper.

Yes, reception is quite good on many stations in the city, esp when stationary.

How did the install go? Looks professionally modified.. I can't tell (from the pic) if there is all new surround or filler or what.

I dont mean to sound bad, but is your console melted? or is that just a funky angle on the camera?

Good catch, guys. While the camera does accentuate the problem, I am not completely happy with the fiberglass work done by my stereo shop when they enlarged the opening. It will be redone soon.

Make sure you go to a shop with an experienced fabricator if you decide to go this route.

I didn't know the center console was made of fiberglass.

it's not but fiberglass and bondo are what is generally used to modify the dash pieces. you can check out my car pc install thread to see a modified dash piece before the painting steps.

edit:

ah...i'll do the searching for you, here is a pic of how some dash pieces are modified:

if you are interested in doing this yourself let me know, i have more pictures of most of the steps.

i'll eventually get around to posting a step by step how to.
