2 channel amp
There is a bit more that you can do, like purchasing an amplifier with a line level input already built in, where you can cut into the left and right outputs off the head unit, run it to the amp, then from the amp outputs run them to the speaker pods, and then to whatever speakers you wish to purchase aftermarket and put in the stock locations. You can use the original bose speakers, but they will sound poor and or you will blow them, depending on the size of the amplifier you choose.
http://www.pac-audio.com sells bose head unit adapters with RCA line level outputs for amplifiers (part # C2A-GM24), as a choice if you wish not to cut into any wiring. You will still have to run new wiring to the door speakers, and still put aftermarket speakers in the original door pods.
So really, you question has alot of different answers.. There is no plug and play answer to it. ... Sorry.
You are going to have to make a decision to either dump the bose crap, or do things half a$$..
