I know some have already modded their systems and some are thinking about it. Those who have what did you put in? How do you like it and what was the $$$? Those thinking about it what are your plans? What will it take $$$-wise? Are you cautious about messing with it? IMHO the blose just doesn't posess the testicular fortitude i was hoping for and I want to switch it up. But I need to get some views of my fellow members.
My system consists of 3 Alpine 120 watt stereo pwr. amps.1 runs the 8" JL subs in the doors,2 runs the coaxial 4" MB quart reference speakers in the front and the 3rd runs the 5" Mb quart ref coaxials in the rear.I have mb quart passive crossovers to seperate the mids from the dome tweeters in the coaxials. The doors were Dynamated and custom baffles were made to mount the 8" subs in the doors
.The head unit is an Alpine CDA 9833 which plays cd,mp3 and wma files.
The time alignment feature is great for delaying the signal left to right and front to rear,it really enables you to "set the soundstage" and you have 5 user presets. The speakers in the doors looks stock and there is a clean shroud which covers the amps. There is a number of interfaces on the market so compatability is no problem. The sound is spectacular.
Price $2844.00 out the door.Best part of the system is all the flexability over the paramaters of sound. It took a while to gret it the way I liked but with all the crossover control and 5 band parametric it was a snap.

If you got the "upgrade" Bose, just adding a sub does a whole lot for cheap!
I actually did get the "upgrade" Bose and thats a very interesting idea. By the way Archtop, system looks great! thanks for the pictures. But maybe double dinning with Nav shoul be considered as Cambria mentioned. Going through one nav thread reaffirms how badly I screwed up not adding that to the madness.
I have a system similar to the one pictured above - I have a Pioneer Preimer deck, all 7 speakers were swiched to MB Quartz, an amp set up like his but mine are in the back of the trunk, two Phoenix Gold amps, and two 10" JL Audio subs in each of the back corners - the subs are fiberglassed in - I paid $800 just for the fiberglass set up, not including the subs - to redo the whole thing with amps and subs is going to run near $3000 - I love music in the car.
Dension DH-100ix in-dash 80GB removable hard disk MP3 player
Focal K2 Power 165K2P front speakers
Focal Polyglas 130CV surround speakers
JL Audio 10" subwoofers in custom fiberglass enclosures
Audison LRx 5.600 amp
Painted center console, pods, and amp cover
$ouch but worth it -- my entire 500-CD music collection comes with me and sounds sweet

Ah,you meant "Dynamated" right? Its a sound deadening insulation audio installers use to prevent rattles and vibrations. Its really a "must" for subs in doors.
Nice looking install.I've been big on audio competions and I had 4 15" MTX subs in my Camaro.I don't want to wreck the inside of this baby though so not sure what way to go. Once again nice install in yours.
