would like to chance out my existing bose 5.25 rear side speakers,, question is can i use a after market like sony 4 ohms speakers ,, or will the bose system not push this,,,,,
You need to read Bogus's sticky FAQ document. It answers this question.
The short answer is yes, you can use 4 ohm speakers, but it will not function properly with the bose amplifiers as they accept 1 ohm speaker impediences.
What happens when you put your newly purchased aftermarket speaker on the bose amps???? Nothing....it will work O.K. but no where near effeciently as it was originally designed to work as. It wont be near as loud as it could be....thats all.
You can use 4 ohm aftermarket speakers to replace the rear side speakers in a C5. These do not have Bose amplifiers, and are powered directly off the head unit. The two 7" woofers in the door are the only speakers with the Bose amps. (The FAQ sticky is for C4's, which do have the Bose amps in the rear).
I thought the rear speaker size for coupes is 6.5". Or do you have a vert or FRC? I believe those are 5.25".
