Default Car Alarms

Last weekend someone stole my new Z06 wheels off my '91 vert I live on the south side of Nashville in a condo so I don't have a garage. Luckily I kept my old wheels so at least I can get around. Before I buy new wheels I'm going to put an alarm on my vert. Any suggestions on what alarm to purchase? I've heard that Viper is a good brand, any other recommendations?

That would really **** me off...sorry to hear that. Did you have locking lug nuts? I have two completely different locking lugnuts on each wheel. It's a hassle when I need to remove tires, but it gives me a little more peace of mind. Something to consider when putting new wheels on.

I have a Viper alarm on mine and have never had a problem. Also, the suggestion about using a locking wheel lug is a good one. I'm running Budniks, which are expensive and I like the idea of using two different locking wheel lugs. It would definitely be a pain taking off the wheels, but they'd remain yours.

Yeah, I had one locking lug nut on each wheel. I'll probably use two locks when I get new wheels...thanks for the advice.

Sorry about your situation. Gorilla Locks sell a complete set of lug nuts in which every single lug nut is a lock!!! Yes, that is not a typo! In your case 20 locks to go through! Would be nice to see the look on a would-be-theif's face when they run across those locks.

I have set of those locks on all my cars.

As for the alarm, I used to run Cliffords in my cars but always had a problem of frying the brain on it every time I had to jump start my car. I haven't had any problems with the Alpine systems thay I use on all my vehicles.

Im using Smith & Wesson auto theft deturant

bummer about the rims....Man, you'd think someone would gank someone else with more expensive rims than that...there is plenty of 22" rims on SUV's these days that are at least worth a couple of grand used.
