Snoopdan Got Jacked!!!
I promised id show some of the lighting I bought from Oznium, I got it in, (3 weeks after I ordered them
) the LED's are great, product delivered as promised, but I was totally thieved on the "cold cathodes" I ordered. They are not cold cathode tubes at all, but extremely bright EL wire in a clear plastic tube that acts as a half *** lens. So, I was sold a not so honest product. Yeah, im all broke up about it too, but I figured id still give it a try. And wow, these little guys are bright! Im sure they're overdriven by the transformer that comes with it, EL usually isnt this bright. I promise, the saying "the candle that burns twice as bright, lasts half as long." is very true. EL wire shouldnt get as warm as this does. But, for 6 or so bucks, who really cares? Im sure it will last in a car for at least a few years. The tubes are waterproof, the transformer itself doesnt get hot, even though it drives two tubes at a time. Some 5 minute epoxy could make all of it waterproof. So anyways, this is my little review of them. I think its a good bang for the buck. They do fit nicely in the courtesy lamp assembly's with a bit of epoxy, so thats a potential mod. I'll probably order more of these in the future from Oznium...not bad little product, even if its not what I thought I was getting.

Sorry, no part number available. Not even in my reciept.

Anyhow, you think the LEDs are great, super, it just gives me more confidence in ordering from them. What did you think of their $900 LED under car set?

Dont get me started. They should be trying to give those away. Sorry, im a die hard neon tube fan. Any dumbass can buy a strip of LED's with a controller. Try cutting your own industrial grade neon tubes like I did for underbody neon on my euro. It took days to measure and cut industrial grade 1/2" tubes, order and cut 1" clear PVC pipe, wire it up with all low loss high voltage wire, and put huge transformers on it. It was NOTHING like you could can buy out right. I had to sit there with the guy who cut and filled all of my tubes with argon and did the glass blowing. For them to even suggest thier LED crap is better, is a joke. If there is any form of neon light / underbody illumination snobery, its from me. Heh!

The LED colors from left to right are UV (really purple), white, and blue all running off of one resistor, from a POS power supply I bought at a flea market for $2
Real high tech here.snoopdan
those are bright! This may be a stupid question, but are the ultraviolet ones do the same thing as a blcklight??
I was asking about the $900 LED kit cause the way it would do colors from front to back, etc, looked unique. Sounds like you did a excellent job with the neon

Well, the UV LED's TRY put out the right bandwidth of visible light in the blacklight range, but its just too small of an amount to be real effective. You'd have to have a butt load of them hooked up to make anything thats blacklight reflective to show up real well. It does make a pretty good purple LED bulb, if anything else.
I think if that LED kit was cheaper, they'd sell a whole bunch more. But its all solid state, realitively inexpensive technology that they're selling. That kit probably costs $100 to make, so that price is
It does look cool and all, but maybe a bit TOO gaudy.

Did you see the "wiggle" neon tubes that the site is selling too, as a new item? Its really an old technology too, by putting glass beads in a neon glass tube, cooking the glass tube and beads in an oven, then backfilling it with argon, makes the neon light up and the light source move randomly in the tube, giving it a lightning look to it. I think thats the first time ive seen that form of neon sold in a kit. And its a cheap price, considering what they have to do to produce it.

Basically making me a mini tesla coil. Anyways, here are the pix of the lamp installed.
Now remember, if you choose to buy these at the incredible price of 6$, you will get two lamps, and one transformer. So you will need to buy two 6$ kits, and will have 2 lamps extra to run to wherever else you want. Not a bad deal.
